Licata Goes From PBS Seats To Bengals Shot
Licata is one of four quarterbacks on the Cincinnati roster and figures to battle Keith Wenning in training camp for a spot on the practice squad.
"I really haven’t thought about that too much to be honest," said Licata. "If you start worrying about the end goal and are not focused on today you’re going to struggle."
Licata didn’t get many offensive reps during the Bengals minicamp in June, so he tried to grasp the playbook by studying Andy Dalton.
"I’m trying to learn as much as I can from Andy," said Licata. "Starting for one season is tough, but starting for as many seasons as Andy has while having so much success – there’s a formula for it and a reason why. I’m just trying to take it all in.
"He knows everything about this offense. The ins and outs, the checks, the protections, and what beats each defense. He’s just so comfortable in this offense from studying it so hard and knowing it for so long. He absorbs coaching very well and is like a coach himself."
Training Camp Thursday... On a Friday!
Sorry for being a day late on this. I had family obligations which kept me busy yesterday.
TCT - We get to use a Licata Picture :)
Here are some updates I came across this week. If I missed this past week anything throw it up in the comments. If you see something over the next week please fan shot it ;)
Training Camp Thursday
This week I could not find any updates on John Kling (Not a lot of people talk about backup linemen), Marqus Baker (Guessing he did not get signed), or Jake Schum ( who watches punting battles this early in camp)
Corey Knox will do anything for a tryout with the Bills
For once, TBN wrote something amazing.
TCT - Thomas Getting an opportunity in Dallas
Injuries have not only given the cornerback a place on the 90 man roster but may provide solid camp reps as the Cowboy's nickle-back.
Derek Carr: Khalil Mack is going to get 30 sacks in 2016
They may be on the same team but if anyone on the Raiders knows how Khalil is playing, it's the QB practicing against him.
Chargers Mailbag: Rookie Camp Recap and Branden Oliver's Role
"Q: How is Branden Oliver looking out there? I missed watching him after he got hurt. What is his role in 2016? – Andrew Skockarich
A: BO looks like BO, and you’ll be happy to hear he says he hasn’t missed a beat. And I agree with you – it wasn’t the same without him down the stretch last year. Oliver said it was tough to be sidelined with his toe injury, so he is grateful to be out on the field working alongside Melvin Gordon, Danny Woodhead and the other running backs. Beyond his talents, he is also one of the most popular players in the locker room, so everyone is happy to see number 43 back out there. To answer your second question, he most definitely will have a role. He is a physical back who grinds and thrives out of the backfield in the screen game. I will have an article on the running backs coming out next week, but here is a small taste of what RB Coach Ollie Wilson had to say about Oliver:
"We missed Branden because he is a consistent player. He wears (defenses) down. He is strong. You see a pile and think the ball is stopped, and then you see him come out of it drive it back for a few more yards. His lower body is really strong, and he has great balance. When guys hit him, they think he’s down, but he’s not because he’s so strong and plays with a lot of leverage. We missed him last year, and it’s been good to have him back out there. He’s smart, and he’s still learning the game. He is going to have a big role for us this year.""
Bulls and Bills Schedules - Side by side
The NFL released it's schedule so now we can see what are the best weeks in Buffalo for football fans!
John Kling to work out with San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers this week
Good luck to @KlingKong70 as he works out for the San Francisco 49ers tomorrow and San Diego chargers on Wednesday! Go get 'em John!

Kling was part of UB's big offensive line the last few years, and certainly has the physical tools to play professionally, if he can get the chance.
