Buffalo Bulls Men's Basketball Preview: Freshman guard Tyler Moffe

Believe it or not, we're just about a month away from the start of basketball season.

UB Athletics

Since there's so many new faces on both Men's and Women's Basketball this year, I figure we need individual posts. Mid October kicks off a busy stretch for us at the blog, so we're getting an early start with daily countdowns. First up, with 35 days to Men's Basketball's game against Daemen is Tyler Moffe.

The Basics

Number: 35
Year: Freshman
Position: Guard
Hometown: Elmira, NY
Height and Weight: 6-1, 168

New Guy?

Yes. (Non-scholarship)

Before UB

Moffe played in high school for Elmira, where he averaged 19.3 points in Class AA - New York's largest classification - and was named Eighth Team All-State as a junior and Tenth Team as a senior. He's the Express' all-time leading scorer, and there's not much more than that. He was one of the best both his junior and senior years in New York's Section IV, but that's not a basketball-strong part of the state.

2015-16 Outlook

If there was ever a year for a non-scholarship guy to get some time, this would be it. With only four players on the roster who played significant minutes last year, everything else has to be considered wide-open.

That said, Moffe could do to add some bulk and from his highlight videos seems a bit limited. There are four players returning, but among the guards, Tyler is likely at the end of the bench behind the JUCO new guys, a hopefully academically eligible Mory Diane, and fellow freshmen CJ Massinburg and Nikola Rakicevic.

I'd have to think Christian Pino minutes are the high end for Moffe as a freshman.
