Buffalo Volleyball now 2-2 in MAC after 3-1 win over Bowling Green

UB Athletics

Full disclosure: I'm writing this recap before watching the match replay on ESPN3. That said, there's not a lot to dislike from UB Volleyball's 3-1 win over Bowling Green this afternoon. Behind a consistent attack that once again grew more efficient over the course of the match and limited mistakes, UB found a 25-19, 21-25, 25-18, 25-18 win over the host Falcons.

Megan Lipski continues her hot streak for the Bulls, with her fourth straight double-double (17 kills and 18 digs) accompanying just three errors. Once again, Buffalo's recipe for success was a balanced, diverse attack, as Cassie Shado, Megan Wernette, and Valisha Watkins all hit double digit kills as well.

Must Reads

Defensively, UB had another tough day on the front line, tallying only six blocks (all solo), but found plenty of digs. In addition to Lipski's 18, Tessa Ooyama in another strong day at libero led the team with 19 while freshman Abby Beecher, who I suspect got more time than ever before, had 13. Most, most importantly, UB only (only!) had five serve receipt errors. Not their best showing of the year, but comparatively, pretty good. On the rewatch, I'll see if there was more bad passing that didn't get logged in that stat, or if it was another stronger day.

Marissa Prinzbach absolutely flies under the radar for how good she is, and today had 44 assists. I'll probably learn more about her day on the rewatch, too.

If I have more to say later, I'll update. For now, the Bulls are 2-2 and looking the best they have all season. They're back home for the next two weekends, with the next two matches against Kent State and Ohio.
