Who is wearing #16 in 2015?
Ishmael Hargrove
Hometown: Cleveland, Ohio
Year: Sophomore
Position: Linebacker
High School: Gilmour Academy Gates Mill
Freshman (2014): Played against Army, Baylor, Ohio and Akron.
Outlook: Another DB moved to LB, Hargrove put on 18 pounds, but is still looking like a strong safety at 6'2 215. He has played on the 2nd unit at LB during practice, although I think it would be a good time for him to redshirt, learn the new position and get a little bigger.
#16 UB Football Game - 1st half
September 27, 2014 - UB 14, Miami 14
At 2-2, with 2 FCS wins and a loss to Army, UB needed a confident win to ease the fears of UB fans, and a loss against the woebegone Redhawks would pretty much end all hope for the season. When Miami opened the game with a 36-yard pass and a 26 yard run en route to a six play, 78 yard opening drive touchdown, you knew it was either going to be a shootout, or an embarrassing loss, perhaps the last straw?
When Joe Licata answered with a 9 yard TD pass to Jacob Martinez to cap a 5 play 65-yard touchdown drive, you knew it was going to be a classic MAC shootout. UB took the lead on their next drive on a 31 yard Licata to Matt Weiser pass. Both defenses tightened up, until Miami tied the game when on 2nd an 17, Dawan Scott brooke free for a 61-yard touchdown run.
The half was vintage UB under Quinn. The offense after starting the game with 16 plays for 145 yards and 2 TDs, turned inconsistent, moving the ball for 4 yards per play, but not putting together enough for scores. The defense was good, for 21 plays, they only allowed 54 yards by Miami, but on Miami's 2 scoring drives, they made it too easy, allowing 132 yards on only 8 plays.
