While most of the attention of the past day fell on UB's long snapper it was the whole team who took to the field for the fourth day today.

The focus through the first few days has been on Joe Licata, the record setting Buffalo quarterback who is going into this year after having hip surgery in the off season. But there are two units on defense which are needed as much as Jobi-Wan.
The Defensive Line is going from three players to four and they took some of the bigger linebackers to fill the gaps in our depth chart.
Meanwhile the DB's were torched last season had some of their harder hitters absorbed into the depleted linebackers. This leaves us with a new look defense with some smaller linebackers.
Licata and the offense should be able to do some damage but will the defense hold up their end of the bargain?

Well today they looked up to the task.
An aggressive defense forced some mistakes and it led to mistakes. Andrews Dadeboe jumped a short Licata pass for a pick six. Also troubling UB quarterbacks were Diamond Williams, who had a pickoff in 7-on-7 work and Ryan Williamson who picked off a Licata pass early on in team drills.
The News noted that the defense is playing perhaps a bit more aggressively in summer camp than the offense saw under Jeff Quinn.
UB football practice report: Day Four - Campus Watch
This was the second day of practice in shoulder pads (no padded pants), and we’re seeing more active fronts from the defense, with more blitzes thrown in. UB coach Lance Leipold said his coaches will try to throw a lot of looks at the offense early. They don’t spoon-feed the offense on pressures."We throw a lot on each other right away," Leipold said. "We just feel that’s the way you learn and adapt. There’s not a lot of movement in the first few practices. But now they’re starting to bring it with the pads on. In the first couple practices without pads, you’d start getting bodies moving and shifting and running into each other. We’re more of a whole-part-whole philosophy. We’re going to throw a lot at them and then bring it back and evaluate. See what sticks and teach it over again."
