It’s finally here, football season!

  • Opponent: Delaware State
  • Venue: UB Stadium
  • Kickoff: September 1st, 6PM
  • TV: ESPN3
  • All Time Series: Buffalo 1-0

I’m not a huge fan of FCS games, especially to open the year, but I’m more than happy to see what the Bulls have built up for this season.

So Bring on the Hornets.

UB of course will be showing off Anthony Johnson, Tyree Jackson, and Khalil Hodge. The trio of future NFL talent will try to get the Bulls to their first Bowl Game since 2013. Last year the Bulls finished Bowl eligible but were one of two 6-6 teams left out of the post season.

Delaware State has a new coach, Rod Milstead, and is trying to change their fortunes. Kenny Carter was the previous head coach from 2015-2017 and in his three seasons he managed a 3-30 record, among those games was a 17 game losing streak.

Their hope on the field is a pair of quarterbacks, Keenan Black and Jack McDaniels, who split the starts last year. They combined to throw for more than 2,300 yards and 16 TDs.

On defense, the Hornets return their best overall player, DB Keyjuan Selby, he’s likely going to be tasked with trying to slow down Johnson.

UB choked away an FCS opener a few years back, hopefully they remember not to overlook anyone. If they come out focused look for them to win, and win big.

Don’t forget to get your BRuWPeG in.
