We’re still early in the rumor phase but several CUSA schools have been reported to have submitted paperwork to conference USA the Sun Belt. The names out there are Marshall, ODU, and Southern Mississippi. There is also some skuttlebut that JMU is on the menu for the Belt.
This takes two teams I talked about earlier this week off the menu.
This leaves the following teams, kind of stuck: WKU, Lousiana Tech, UTEP, FIU, & MTSU.
Two of these teams pair nicely, and happen to bend, but not break, the MAC footprint into the south.
That would be a pairing of WKU and Middle Tennessee State.
If we add them here is the MAP
Both schools add a lot of power in Basketball. Since 2010 MTSU has been to the dance three times, twice getting to the round of 32. WKU has twice been to the round of 32 since 2000 and has a gaggle of appearances.
This would enhance MAC hoops, add some nice recruiting grounds, and put CUSA out of it’s misery.
Thoughts?
