With less than a month before the men’s basketball team tips-off their regular season, news broke today that senior small forward Blake Hamilton will miss 4-6 weeks of action due to breaking a bone in his non-shooting hand. The news was officially broken by Mark Gaughan at The Buffalo News.
Hamilton is arguably the best player returning to the 2016-17 edition of the Bulls and is expected to not be available until at least their game versus Xavier. Although it’s possible he’ll be back then, he could very well miss most of November’s out of conference action.
Given the nature of this news, this would usually be alarming, but the Bulls’ only marquee opponent in this timeframe is Xavier. Hamilton will be back for games against Pittsburgh, St. Bonaventure, and an arguable pre-season top-25 program in Creighton.
The Pasadena, California native averaged 13.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game last season. Hamilton has been a solid asset for the Bulls because of his ability to play four out of the five positions on the court.
