UB jumped on top of the Towson in the later part of the first half and held off the Tigers as they attempted an early second half rally. The end result was a 75-65 win for Buffalo over their Colonial Athletic Association foe. The Tigers were picked to finish fourth in the Colonial, so this is a decent neutral site win for Buffalo.
Jeenathan Williams led all scorers with 28 points, he also pulled down 11 rebounds to open his season with a double-double. Javon Graves kicked in 20 and Brock Bertham scored eight, and puled down a dozen rebounds.
The two teams spent the early first half going back and forth until, with the score at 26-22, UB went on an 11-0 run sparked by Williams and Graves. Townson eventually stopped the run with a free throw shot by the teams traded points to end the half, putting UB up 41-25 at intermission.
Towson came out had in the second half, closing to a seven point deficit just three and a half minutes in the second period.
From that point forward it was a pretty even game, but the Tigers were never really able close to within 10 until the final shot of the game.
UB plays next against Army, tomorrow at 2:00/
