The Buffalo news is reporting that Drew Anderson has decided to transfer away from Buffalo. The Senior is heading to FCS Murray State where he will probably be the starting quarterback this coming season.
Players transferring from FBS to FCS do not have to sit a year per NCAA rules.
Anderson started 2017 behind Tyree Jackson. When Jackson went down against Florida International, Drew stepped in and played 4 amazing games. Anderson had 10 touchdowns and one interception with a 62.3 percent completion rate.
He had, by the fourth game, set himself up as the starter in the eyes of many fans.
Unfortunately Anderson suffered a shoulder injury and before he could heal up Tyree Jackson had returned and was playing better than ever. Jackson’s strong play at the end of the year put him back on top heading into the spring.
With this being Drew’s last season, and with him being good enough to start on a lot of college teams, it’s probably a great move for him to go somewhere to play now, hoping to get some NFL scouts to check him out.
For now, I would assume that Kyle Vantrease slides into the #2 spot, but that can change before the season starts.
