Naaman Roosevelt spent half of last season as a star receiver for Saskatchewan. He never had a chance though to play on the field with Darian Durant, the Roughriders starting quarterback who was injured before Naaman got the call up from the practice squad.

Well, he remedied that this past off-season by spending time working with Durant down in Atlanta.

Roosevelt, a second-year receiver with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, worked out with Durant — the CFL team’s marquee quarterback — during off-season sessions in Atlanta. The practices helped Durant recover from a ruptured left Achilles tendon that he suffered in the 2015 regular-season opener.

Roosevelt did not have a chance to play in a game with Durant last season. The 28-year-old slotback had a strong training camp, but did not crack the active roster until Aug. 30. He then dressed for 10 games, recording 25 receptions for 488 yards and five touchdowns.

Jake Silas is working for a spot on the Ottawa REDBLACK's offensive line. But befre he went up for CFL preseason camp he popped the question to his girlfriend.

"I knew I wanted to (get engaged) before I came back (to Ottawa)," said Silas, who’s from Portland, a small town in Michigan. "I took her to Belle Isle (in the Detroit area). I didn’t know how I was going to do it. As we were driving through, I was looking for a nice setting. I ended up finding a little pier. We walked out on the pier. I knew I wanted a picture of it. There was no one out there and she said, ‘Do you want to go back?’ I said, ‘Hold on, let’s wait a minute.’ Finally, some people came out and I said, ‘Hey, do you guys mind taking a picture?’ We took a few pictures together. Then I was like, ‘Hey, you mind grabbing a few more pictures? I pulled the ring out of my pocket and she said yes right away."

Drew Willy was interviewed after day one of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers camp.
