National Football League

Khalil Mack - Fanbases as a whole are schizophrenic jerks, really we are. Mack was moved from the outside linebacker position in to the defensive end of a 3-4 defense that has a poor secondary. He's made the adjustments and by most accounts is playing really well. But this we see some Raider fans praise Mack.

Week 4 PFF Grades: Coverage, missed tackles still major issue for Raiders - Silver And Black Pride
The defense's 12 hurries were their most of the season so far, led by Khalil Mack's 4 hurries -- his best of the season -- along with one sack.

Mack is now almost always double teamed and even with that he got into the quarterbacks face four times, and helped the rst of Oakland's defense get there eight more times. But he never put Derek Carr on his back so in chimes the guys who think Mack is underachieving. (Ed Note: I misread Mack's stat line, he did have a sack)

The Morning After: Oakland Raiders at Chicago Bears, Week 4 - Silver And Black Pride
The star of the defense didn't play great either, Khalil Mack's productivity is clearly being hampered by nagging injuries.

James Starks - A low key day for Starks. Nine carries for 28 yards and two receptions for 11. On the plus side the Packers Defense stifled San Francisco to remain undefeated and a two games up in the NFC North.

Bob McGinn - Rating the Packers vs. 49ers
There was nothing special about James Starks (24). He didn't appear to miss any cuts, failed to break a single tackle and got what was there.

Branden Oliver - Oliver did not get any touches on offense but is doing kickoff return duty in San Diego. He returned four kickoffs for an average of 24.4 yards. On the year he is averaging 24.6 and ranks 6th in the NFL.

In other Charger running back news Donald Brown has been resigned for the year. Meaning once again BO may have to compete with Brown for carries.

Chargers Re-Sign RB Donald Brown - Bolts From The Blue

However, signing Brown back is odd because the team also has to clear a space on the roster for Antonio Gates' return. Could this be the end of John Phillips in San Diego despite his above-average play this season?

Josh Thomas - Thomas played against Jacksonville but did not accumulate any stats during the Colts 16-13 win. Indianapolis continues to be hampered by injuries at corner so Thomas may get more time in the coming weeks.

Colts sign cornerback Shaun Prater, release quarterback Josh Johnson - Stampede Blue
We don't know the extent of those injuries, but the only other corners on the roster are Darius Butler and Josh Thomas, so adding Shaun Prater as depth at the position is a smart move.

Jake Schum - Schum is having a decent year with the Bucs. His net average if 15th in the NFL but more impressively teams are averaging only 3.6 yards per return against him, which is 3rd in the league.

Side Note #1 - Interestingly enough the Jets, who cut Schum to go with Ryan Quigley are second to last in the NFL in return yards surrendered, third from last in net average, and 4th from last in gross average.

Side Note #2 - Tampa just fired their Kicker and while I don't think you see Schum lining up for field goals he does have a boot and might get a look at Kickoff duty.

Buccaneers waive Adam Humphries, bring in four kickers for tryouts - Bucs Nation
The Bucs didn't announce any signings to replace the two, but they'll be holding tryouts for a new kicker tomorrow. According to Mike Garafolo, those tryouts will include Connor Barth, Randy Bullock, Kai Forbath and Billy Cundiff -- all veterans, two of whom have played for the Bucs before.

That's especially true if they bring in ex-buc Connor Barth.

Kritjan Sokoli - Once again Sokoli was inactive. It seems like this may just be a development year for the rookie.

Canadian Football League

Naaman Roosevelt - Three touchdowns in six games! Naaman Roosevelt continues to impress in the CFL. While the Roughriders are not going to the post season Roosevelt is staking his claim to a spot next season.

Ernest Jackson - EJ and the REDBLACKS lost a rough game to Toronto last night and in doing so lost a hold on first place in the CFL Eastern Division. In the lass EJ had 3 receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Drew Willy - Is still listed as game to game, right now the Bombers need a big run to make the playoffs and without Drew it may not happen.
