It's Baaaaaack! BRUWPEG!

I have pulled a Rick Riley, rehashed and updated last years article introducing Bruwpeg!

The Bull Run Weekly Pick 'Em Game (BRuWPEG) started in 2010 with Jeff Quinn under the helm and many of us had no idea what the season would entail.  I decided to get input, predictions, and have some fun.  I created the Bull Run Weekly Pick 'Em Game or for the cool people, just BRuWPEG.

The game is very easy for  you to compete in.  No entry fee and all you have to do each week before kick-off is leave your prediction on the 2013 Bull Run Weekly Pick 'Em Game thread who the winner is and what each teams points will be.

For example, if you want to enter all you have to do is reply to the article with what you will believe to be the score of the game: Buffalo 42  Duquense 13.

The veteran pickers do appreciate you in-depth analysis or an amusing tidbit.  Tiebreaker at the end of the year is based on the best/funniest comments when picking.  I do have the final say for the tie-breaker as to best comment.  This caused some controversy last year.  I hope to cause some more this year!

A little history on this game.  First year was a very heated battle and came down to yours truly and Bull In Exile.  Some call it shenanigans while others call it "clutch"   Coming into the last week of the season, it was a tie after BIE running away most of the season.  BIE sent his picks as late as he could, but not late enough.  I decided not to go for the tie but decided to pick the opposite direction.  The plan worked and I have felt like a champion ever since.

The second year was all about Bulls Fan in Chi Town.  BFICT laid a smack down on the BRuWPEG.   Interesting enough BFICT walked away.  Some call it the pressure, others call it his yearning passion to be alone and paint in the south of France, whatever it was, BFICT decided not to defend his title. But alas BFICT came out of retirement last year and showed the world he is still a force to be dealt with.

Year three was the most Topsy Turvey years for BRuWPEG.   Calvin looked like he locked down the championship until UB Drop_Out surged and won.  UB D_O won the grand prize last year of two mugs of ChubbyHubbies home made brew (did you get some) at any home game, a firm handshake, and multiple pats on the back side!

Last year dbburns had a great year.  In this order, his highlights include winning Bruwpeg and then getting married.  Some say dbburns was really Jeff Quinn in disguise. Will the fifth year of Bruwpeg provide us with a repeat champion.  dbburns right now in Vegas is a 8 - 3 favorite, Calvin 12 - 1, 121 Merrimac 15 - 1, Myself 332 - 1, and last but not least Chubby Hubby at 1,500 to 1.  The pick that I am anxiously waiting for is Chubby's pick to see how bad Buffalo beats Baylor!  What's the chance of getting CTBullsFan to jump into the Bruwpeg pool?

If you are one of those people who need the rules, first of all good luck.  Not even a UB degree will help you deceiver this riddle.  If you are a real man this is when you stop reading and give feed back and your prediction why you are going to win.  I typically put each weeks match up by Monday morning.   Remember that Baylor is a Friday night game so have your picks in early.

Still reading?  OK you asked for it.  Here are the rules!

Here are the unofficial rules how the points are tabulated:

Score Prediction Points:

Predict both team's correctly ~ 5 points + all other point totals.

Predict only one of the teams’ score correctly ~ 3 points.

Predict the team’s points +/- 3 - 1 point.

Total Points:

Add total picks, if same total as final, 3 points.*

Add your picks together and +/- 6 points, 1 point.

· Your score does not have to be the same as final to achieve 3 points.

For example UB 24 + Duquense 21 = 45.  3 points given for UB 35 +Duquense 10 = 45

Picking the Winner

Pick the correct winner, 1 point.

Example:

This is how your pick should look:

Buffalo 24 Duquense 17 (plus mandatory comment as stated above!)

Final Score: Buffalo 24 - Duquense 21.

Your point total:

0 Score not predicted right on.

3 Predicting the Buffalo Score Correctly.

0 Duquense score (not within 3)

0 Picking the point total right on. (45 vs. 41)

1 Picked total points within 6 points (45 – 41 = 4)

1 One Point for picking the correct winner.

5 Total Points for the week.

Confused, Good. Get your picks in when I ask and then you will figure it out.

The highest score you can achieve in one week is 15. All picks must be on the board before kick-off. As soon as the ball is in the air, no more entries will be added. I will try to be as diligent as possible to update throughout the week with picks and provide the wining results as soon as I can. I welcome any changes or additions as long as they are not moranic. Please send me your thoughts. David  GO BULLS and let's have a great '14 season!
