NCAA Recruiting Buffalo - JR Zazzera

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

One of the most intriguing pulls of this class is Dual Threat Quarterback J.R. Zazzera. The Christian Brothers signal caller excelled in multiple sports and among them are football and Lacrosse. He was so proficient at Lacrosse that Syracuse offered Zazzera a scholarship on their LAX team which he accepted.

Then Zazzera got a call from Buffalo and he jumped on the chance to play quarterback at the FBS level.

"I love football more than anything", Zazzera told Bull Run, "and I know I would be happy playing football over lacrosse any day."

This past season Zazzara led Christian Brothers Academy to a 10-1 record which included the Section III Class AA championship. On the year he was a part of 38 touchdowns (22 passes and 16 runs). He was and was named to the All-CNY football team as selected by The Post-Standard and Syracuse.com.

Lou Tepper, who appears to be in charge of New York State recruiting reached out to Zazzera. JR feld that he and Tepper "immediately clicked and had a strong connection."

Throughout his career at Christian Brothers his hall makr was "making the unexpected play". He used his mobility to pick up yards on the ground but almost as often he used it to extend a play until he was able to find a receiver. Zazzera believe that he will have to work on his poise in the pocket at the FBS level.

After the season was over Zazzera was invited to play in the Offense-Defense  All-American Bowl in Orlando. The only New Yorker in the game Zazzara was one of six quarterbacks to play in annual game that has featured the likes of Cam Newton and Dez Bryant.
