If only UB had the money to start up an NCAA Hockey Program..
UB fans could be gearing up for two tournament's this March.
CCHA Tournament Time: Here We Go - Hustle Belt
The road to Detroit is finally on the last stretch. Just 2-6 games separates 4 teams from a trip to Detroit, and just 2 wins away from the Mason Cup. Last year we saw two MAC schools meet in the final, where Miami beat Western Michigan in a tough game 5-2 (if you watched the game you know the score doesn't tell the story of the game) to capture their first Mason Cup.
Of course we may, or may not, have been part of an ill fated plan to save the name "CCHA" from the ash heap of history or part of a 'new' conference with the AHA4. UB could not manage the scratch for either so I have to spend another spring rooting for the RedHawks, Broncos, or Falcons.
If only Oregon's Compliance office did their job..
Maybe if Oregon's compliance officers did their job the Ducks might not be in the NCAA's sights.
NCAA documents say Oregon Ducks violated recruiting regulations - ESPN
The NCAA has been looking into Oregon's recruiting practices since questions arose over a 2010 payment of $25,000 to Willie Lyles and his Houston-based recruiting service. Lyles had a relationship with a player from Texas who committed to Oregon.
Clearly pay for play will fix this kind of thing. Who needs to start paying agents when they can just pay kids right?
If only Akron did us a favor..
If Akron had beaten OU last night the Bulls would have been all alone in second place in the MAC. Instead we are tied with the Bobcats and sit at third because of the tie breaker.
Ohio blasts Zips | Basketball
Sophomore Nick Kellogg scored a season-high 17 points to lead Ohio University (23-6; 10-4 MAC) past Akron 85-61 Sunday night at the Convocation Center. In the process, the Bobcats went undefeated in home MAC games for the first time since 1985. It was just the second conference loss for league-leading Akron (20-9, 12-2).
Akron has two difficult games left. UB and Kent so if OU wins out they could win the MAC. Of course if Buffalo wins out and Akron loses to Kent (and Kent beats Ohio) then Buffalo could win it all.
If only I could swim a style other than the doggie paddle
Then I might follow swimming with more eagerness. Especially considering the trajectory that the programs (both the men and the women) are on right now.
Women’s Swimmers Post Highest-Ever Finish at MAC Championships - Buffalo Athletics
The University at Buffalo finished in fourth-place, its highest showing in league history, as the three-day Mid-American Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships came to a close at Akron's Ocasek Natatorium. The Bulls scored 448 points, their highest total since joining the league in 1998.
