With the college football signing window approaching, I wanted to look into the recruiting needs of the UB Bulls. A recent article began the process, by investigating how much game experience the current team has been getting, beyond the listed starter and backup. This article will expand the investigation, to see how much experience each player has gotten during their entire time in Buffalo.
Three of the starting offensive linemen are seniors this year. Granted, this year has unique eligibility rules, but I don't think we should count on everyone coming back. When it comes to career games played, Kayode Awosika and Jake Fuzak are the most experienced in this group. Luckily, Mike Novitsky and Jacob Gall will be back, and have already started more games than some of the seniors. The unit may not appear as deep as you'd like for a group with five positions. But, there are a number of others already in the program, learning the playbook. For better or worse, I limited the list of players who have yet to see the field to those rated with three stars. I realize that is not particularly fair, given that a current two star sophomore was nominated to the Rimington Trophy Watchlist.

Without a senior on the roster, there doesn't seem to be much of an issue with the next group. Just keep bringing in one or two new quarterbacks every year.

The experience of the two senior tight ends is leaps and bounds above the rest of the unit. I never heard the reason why Julien Bourassa hasn't been on the roster this year. I miss him now, and will miss his experience and production even more next year. With a little luck, maybe he is only ineligible, and returns next season.

Similar to the quarterbacks, the running backs are also without a senior this year. Maybe I am putting too much faith in the future of a freshman who has yet to see the field, but the group seems to be in good shape going forward.

The core of wide receivers seem to be quite heavily laden with seniors. Marlyn Johnson showed promise last year, as has Trevor Wilson so far this year. The current recruiting class has several highly touted receivers to help fill any gaps, but will they sign? We'll know soon enough.
