Buffalo Bulls will start Grant Rohach against Albany

Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

Iowa State transfer Grant Rohach will be UB's starting quarterback this week when the Bulls kick off their season against the Albany Great Danes. Rohach has spent the offseason in a duel with freshman quarterback Tyree Jackson.

The news was broken by Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News:

In practices observed by the media the two quarterbacks were getting a similar workload and both were behind center for many first team drills. At one point in the offseason UB Coach Lance Leipold had said the possibility of using both quarterbacks was still on the table.

At ISU Rohach started five games, leading the Cyclones to back to back victories in 2013 against Kansas and West Virginia. During his Iowa State career he completed 137 of 245 career passes for 1,459 yards and 10 touchdowns.

He went to Iowa State from Moorpark, California, where he was a three-star recruit and also had an offer from Western Michigan.
