Tom Murphy - Team USA (Pan American Games)

Murphy and the Americans lost the Gold Medal in extra innings. Canada scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 10th, the final 2 coming on an errant pickoff throw from Team USA's David Huff for a 7-6 win. This is the second Pan Am games in a row in which the US fell in the championship to Canada.

With Baseball now complete Murphy will head back to the states and resume his duties in the Colorado Rockies system.

Steve Geltz - Tampa Bay

Geltz Continues to do just what the Rays expect out of him. Short stints of relief which usually end with no opposing runs. This past week Geltz pitched twice. In 2.1 innings of work the UB hurler game up a single run, one hit, and walked a better.

Jason Kanzler - For Myers (A+)

He is still not lighting up the scoreboard but Kanzler is being productive.

Ft. Myers 12, Brevard County 1 - Let’s start with offense. Alex Swim and Brett Doe each had four hits in the game. Swim was 4-5 with his 11th double and two RBI. Doe was 4-6 with two RBI. Ryan Walker went 2-6 and drove in three runs. Chad Christensen went 2-4 with a walk and his first triple of the season. Tanner Vavra went 2-4. Jason Kanzler was 2-5.

Mike Burke - Delmarva (A)

Burke put up one of his worst showings of the year. While officially it did not count as his loss the Shorebirds may have won the game if Burke did not give up 4 in the 9th.

The Shorebirds managed to make things interesting in the bottom of the ninth, but Mike Burke's horror show appearance in the top of the inning ultimately doomed the boys from 'bury. Making his ninth start, Josh Walker conitnues to burnish his credentials as a certified worm killer. Walker induced nine groundouts against three through the air. With a grand slam in the ninth, Yermin Mercedes now has fourteen extra base hits in 27 games with the Shorebirds (,542 SLG).

Nick Sinay - Bluefield (ROK)

Sinay had a pretty down week but he is still getting love from the Bluefield press.

Sinay, a native of upstate New York, said he perhaps got the attention of the Toronto organization in a college game playing for the Bulls of the University of Buffalo.
