Senior Salute - Fred Lee

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

Buzz before he arrived: The 2008 trio of receivers was one of the strongest in UB history. In 2009, Marcus Rivers replaced Ernest Jackson and the receivers continued to dominate. With many WRs recruited, it was assumed that the position would continue to be a strength.

His Journey: Lee was lost in a group of receivers behind Rivers and Alex Neutz that never seemed to mature into a real offensive target. Despite appearing in 39 games and starting 23 games, Lee only came into his own this year. Lee had 45 receptions for 482 yards and 3 Touchdowns in his first three years as a Bull. This year, he has 49 receptions for 594 yards and 4 Touchdowns.

Debut Performance: Lee played in his first game, the 2010 game against Rhode Island, where he snagged 2 catches for 14 yards.

Breakout Performance: Lee out performed Alex Neutz and Marcus Rivers in the 2011 Akron game. Lee caught 6 balls for 52 yards and 2 touchdowns in the rout.

Senior Moment: Buffalo became a two-threat receiving core as Lee performs better than Neutz in three straight games. In the 2013 Western Michigan game, UMass game and the Kent State game, Neutz caught 7 balls for 110 yards and 2 Touchdowns. Lee, during that same time period, caught 18 balls for 230 yards and 2 Touchdowns.
