You knew it wasn't going to be pretty going into Tuesday night's contest...And it wasn’t.
In a game that went exactly according to the pregame script, Buffalo dominated as Khalil Mack made some NCAA history on his way to leading the Bulls to a 44-7 victory over Miami.
After a slow first quarter, Buffalo dominated the second, scoring 28 points to go into halftime up 28-0.
Joe Licata started the scoring with a one-yard touchdown pass to Alex Dennison, his first touchdown reception of the year to put Buffalo up 7-0.
Licata finished 20 of 32 for 172 yards with one touchdown and an interception.
Branden Oliver took over from there, rushing for two touchdowns in the second quarter on his way to running for 150 yards on the night.
The story of the first half: the play of linebacker Khalil Mack. The senior captain had three sacks and three forced fumbles in the first half alone on his way to setting the NCAA career record for forced fumbles.
His second forced fumble of the game, the record breaking 15th forced fumble of Mack's career was recovered by Okoye Houston who took it back the distance to give Buffalo a 28-0 lead.
From there, the Bulls defense continued to dominate, holding Miami to only 200 total yards.
The RedHawks lone score, a Drew Kummer two-yard touchdown run came with only 3:04 left in the fourth quarter.
As a team, Buffalo outgained Miami 517-200 as the Bulls had a field day on both sides of the ball.
Bulls backup running back Anthone Taylor did a great job in mop up duty, rushing for 154 yards on 17 carries.
10 Buffalo players caught a pass Tuesday night with star receiver Alex Neutz only taking down one reception for six yards.
Filling in for Licata late, sophomore Tony Daniel threw his first career touchdown pass, connecting with Devon Hughes on for an 11-yard touchdown late in the fourth.
With the win, Buffalo improves to 8-3 (6-1) and sets a new school record for most MAC wins in a season with six, surpassing the 2008 Bulls squad that went 5-3 in conference play.
The Bulls now prepare for the Clash at the Ralph where they'll take on Bowling Green with the MAC East title at stak next Friday.
