The NIU Huskies and Buffalo Bulls entered the day trying to win the series rubber match but Buffalo needed the win a whole lot more than Northern Illinois. Unfortunately need never factors into a games result because NIU's bat's obliterated the Bulls this afternoon.

NIU scored four in the first, three in the second, three in the fourth, and one in the sixth to put the Bulls behind by eleven runs before Buffalo broke through in the top of the eighth inning.
Buffalo finally got moving when Bobby Sheppard and Brian Dudek started off the inning with back to back walks. Mike Abrunzo singled to load the bases with no outs.
Vinny Mallaro drove in UB's first run of the game with a single and two batters later an error allowed Ben Vey to reach base which brought in Dudek. Billy Hartford hit into a fielders choice on which Abrunzo and Mallaro scored to make the score 11-4.
NIU piled on in their half of the eighth, socring six more runs making the 9th an all but impossible inning for UB who found themselves down 17-4.
In the 9th Mallaro drove in two and then scored on a Don Killian RBI but NIU locked down the Bulls and walked away with a 17-7 decision.
