Buffalo was trying to secure their second MAC series win of the season today but NIU's bats beat UB by a score of 9-2.
Charlie Sobieraski was solid through the first tow innigs but got tagged for a grand slam homer run to give the Huskies the 4-0 lead through three innings. They added another run in the the fourth to make it a 5-0 lead.
UB was held off the scoreboard until the sixth innings. The scoring started when Eddie Edwards III and Bobby Sheppard delivered back-to-back singles followed by a Ben Vey single down which scored Edwards III. Mike Abrunzo then stepped in and hit a sacrifice fly which scored Sheppard from third.
5-2 was as close as UB got. NIU picked up four more runs in the eighth to seal the 9-2 win.
The two teams play a rubber match today at 1:00 pm.
