Just a day after winning their home campus round game against Bowling Green, the Mid-American Conference announced that three members of Buffalo Bulls Women’s Basketball were selected for MAC accolades. JoAnna Smith, Summer Hemphill, and Stephanie Reid were selected for Second Team All-MAC, All-MAC Freshman Team, and All-MAC Defensive Team respectively.
Smith picked up right where she left of last season, but due to the heavy depth the MAC has this season she was chosen for the All-MAC Second Team. Starting off a bit slow this year, the senior erupted in conference play, scoring 19.8 points per contest— second only to MAC Player of the Year Larissa Lurken from Kent State. JoAnna also made the second most three-point field goals per game this season with 3.3 a game.
Summer Hemphill takes All-MAC Freshman honors after a standout freshman season. Hemphill was the only freshman in the conference to finish in the top-ten in rebounding at 6th with 7.7 a game. Hemphill also averaged 6.1 points per game with a solid 53% shooting percentage.
Stephanie Reid claims All-MAC Defensive Team honors for the second straight season. Reid has proven that her on-ball defending is top notch and she has put many guards on lockdown in the conference including All-MAC first teamer Presley Hudson.
Buffalo’s season is still alive after beating #10 Bowling Green. The Bulls will return to action tomorrow at around 5:00PM. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
