After playing one season for the University at Buffalo, freshman Mirte Scheper has decided that she will not be returning next year to the Women's Basketball program. Despite the team winning it's first MAC Tournament and receiving a bid to the NCAA Tournament, it is not surprising to still see some players transfer.
The Netherlands native was one of the five freshmen that came to Buffalo less than a year ago and among them had a solid impact on the program. She started the first eleven games at the five spot before junior transfer Cassie Oursler became eligible to play.
Scheper contributed 2.1 points per game while also bringing in 2.2 rebounds per game during her time here at Buffalo. The 6-4 center shot the ball with a team best 49.1 percent in an offense that struggled at times.
Two of Mirte's best games came under crucial situations for the Bulls in their MAC Championship run. In UB's 63-50 win over Bowling Green, the freshman scored a career best 11 points along with 6 rebounds and an assist. The win was pivotal in obtaining a home playoff game for the MAC Tournament. Scheper also made a large impact in the MAC Championship game versus Central Michigan, where she finished with 7 points and 6 rebounds.
It is unclear whether or not Scheper will play somewhere back home in Netherlands or for another program at this time. Below you will find the current scholarship allocation of the team:
