Football season is less than a week away but one thing we haven't looked at as a site is where we think the rest of the conference stacks up. This year's preseason rankings have WMU at the #1 spot . Check out the full rankings below:
Rank | Team | Score | LW | CH | Comment |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WMU | 1.0 | - | - | The consensus #1 pick by our editors, WMU boasts plenty of firepower through the likes of Zach Terrell and Corey Davis to win the MAC |
| TOL | 2.0 | - | - | Toledo spent much of last season ranked all for naught. This year, they have a new head coach but bring back plenty of talent to win it this time. |
| NIU | 3.0 | - | - | NIU has made the MAC Championship game for the last six years and are within striking distance of a seventh straight appearance. |
| BG | 4.3 | - | - | The defending MAC Champs are a big question this year now that Dino Babers is off to Syracuse. Regardless, our editors still have them pretty high. |
| CMU | 5.3 | - | - | Returning Jesse Kroll and Cooper Rush will be huge for a Chippewas team that went 7-6 last season. |
| OHIO | 6.0 | - | - | Frank Solich has his work cut out for him now that his starting QB JD Sprague has left the team. |
| AKR | 6.8 | - | - | Akron looks to improve on a year where they made only their second bowl appearance ever. |
| BUFF | 7.8 | - | - | Although it's Leipold's second season with the Bulls, our editors place Buffalo in a familiar place from last season. |
| KENT | 9.5 | - | - | Kent is probably the dark horse in this back half of the standings. The Golden Flashes return many key pieces to a strong defensive unit. |
| BALL | 9.8 | - | - | With a new coaching staff on hand, Ball State is set up for some growing pains. |
| M-OH | 11.3 | - | - | They were once a strong program but the RedHawks continue to go on a backwards trajectory. |
| EMU | 11.5 | - | - | EMU continues to be the poster child of mediocrity in the MAC. |
