After winning the first Bowl game in Program history UB athletic Director Mark Alnutt was able to get head coach Lance Leipold to sign an extension with the University through 2024.

Leipold became coach of the Bulls in November 2014, and since then the team has only had one bad season. Things have trended very positively lately, 24 wins in the past three years is a program record and the school has been bowl eligable each of those past three seasons.

They won the MAC East Division in 2018, and won a bowl game this past season.

“I’m very appreciative of Lance Leipold’s unwavering commitment and dedication to building a championship caliber football program here at UB. This program has seen outstanding growth and success both on and off the field during his tenure. I’m excited to work with Lance and his staff as we continue this positive trajectory for many years to come.” — University at Buffalo Director of Athletics Mark Alnutt.

Leipold was also extended after the 2018 season. His last extension gave him base salary of $465,000 and additional compensation of $150,000, which made him the 3rd highest paid coach in the Mid American Conference, no details of this contract have been released as of yet.
