Hoops season is here, Buffalo is taking part in Bubbleville and is set to take on Towson and Army. UB was originally scheduled to face Vermont and Iona, but COVID related issues forced both schools to pull out of the tournament.

The Bulls are hoping to build on Jim Whitesells first season. Last year UB put hp a 20-win season despite a coaching change and huge roster turnover. While it was less success than the Bulls had been accustomed to, they still managed to compete with the top of the MAC all season long.

Buffalo’s attempt to get back into the NCAA tournament will be led by Jayvon Graves, who averaged 17.1 points per game. They also will lean heavy on Jeenathan Williams and Josh Mballa.

Ronaldo Segu should provide some solid scoring depth and a deep threat for the Bulls.

UB lost Davonta Jordan, Antwain Johnson, and Gabe Grant but return a ton of power to their lineup and will make use of Chance Robinson.

The challenge for UB will be finding a defensive hustle and ferocity which had been a hallmark of the program under Bobby Hurley and Nate Oats, but which was missing last season.

Tipoff is 3:30 on Friday and the game can be seen on Watch on Flohoops.
