After a split during their last two game road swing UB is returning home this Saturday to take on Army. It’s the first of four out of conference home games before Mid American Conference play begins.

Army is not going to be able to match up athletically with Buffalo, they’re not a particularly athletic team. The Black Knights try to make up for this with depth and fresh legs.

Army typically has up to 13 players a night putting in at least five minutes on the floor and overall they have 17 players who have contributed this season. This is compared to nine players with more than 5 minutes per game and twelve overall contributors to Buffalo.

The main players, the guys who will put in the most time and should be the most concerning to Buffalo are their best guard Tommy Funk and forward Matt Wilson.

Wilson, a 6-foot-9 forward who plays a strong physical game inside and is averaging close to thirteen points and nine rebounds a game. As for Funk, he was top 25 in the country for assists per game last season and so far this year is eighth in the nation with 7.5 assist per game. Throw in 13 points and five rebounds and he looks to be the guy that needs to be “on” for Army to play their best game.

Army is 4-4 on the season with their best win coming against the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights. They have a couple of ugly losses, including dropping a game to Binghamton a few weeks ago.

Head to head the Bulls should win this game. If Josh Mballa can give Wilson a rough time inside, without getting into foul trouble and the Bulls play a solid defensive game they could win rather big.

Tipoff is at 2:00pm and the game is going to be aired on ESPN+...
