Mballa was set to be a sit one, play three transfer, but his waiver has been approved by the NCAA
He comes to the program from Texas Tech to a UB team trying to make another successful coaching transition. Josh is a high major athlete who has been with the team since his transfer getting to know the system.
He was described by Zach Eaton as “a lanky athlete that will serve well as a switchable defensive piece, and a rim-running big man in the open floor that fits the up-tempo UB system well.”
He’s a great addition to the 2019 front-court for Buffalo, which was already one of the more athletic teams in the MAC. UB’s length, skill, and athleticism combination in the front-court gives the Bulls a shot at another MAC title if the team chemistry gels under new coach Jim Whitesell.
UB Tips off tomorrow night with an exhibition game versus DII Daemen College.
