Football season is half over and hoops is starting up so this season we are going to try the first ever Basket-BRuWPeG game.
Here is how it works.
About once a week, in whatever way aligns with UB’s schedule, we are going to put up a quick preview piece of upcoming games. High level opponent overviews for games in the next 7-10 days.
Then, in the comments, let us know (1) how many of the games UB will win, (2) how many points UB will score, and (3) how many their oppoents will score.
The second two items are cumulative for all games being covered.
Here is the scoring
- Call the right number of wins 2 points
- Call the UB score exact get three points, get to within five get 2, get to within 10 and get 1.
- Call the OPP score exact get three points, get to within five get 2, get to within 10 and get 1.
Since this week is an exhibition game let’s call this our exhibition BRuWPeG
===
Buffalo Will be kicking off this season with an exhibition game against Daemen College. The Wildcats are a member of the Division II East Coast Conference.
The Wildcats are a solid experienced squad. They are returning 10 players, and four starters, from last years 24-6 team. This squad was ranked among the country’s top-25 teams for 16 weeks last year.
Their returning starers have all earned All-ECC honors at some point in their career. Junior center Andrew Sischo is a two-time first-team All-ECC, senior forward Jeff Redband was second-team All-ECC last season, senior guard Breon Harris is a two-time third-team All-ECC and senior guard Jay Sarkis was third-team All-ECC in 2017-18.
Their big star is Sischo, who is the the reigning ECC and East Region Player of the Year. He has great size for a DII player. The 6-foot-9 Albany shot 59 percent from the field and averaged 20.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game last year.
Coming into this season Daemen is ranked #24 nationally in Division two polls.
