UPDATED: WBB: Tessy Onwuka and Ayoleka Sodade try out for Nigerian National Team


Onwuka played regularly for WBB this last season, appearing in 32 games for UB and averaging 2.3 points per game. Sodade appeared in 19 games for UB and averaged 0.8 points per game.

Nigeria won the 2017 AfroBasket Women's Championship, one of three times they have won the gold medal in the history of this tournament. The win in 2017 qualifies Nigeria to play in the 2018 Women's World Basketball Cup, to be played in the Canary Islands September 22–30, 2018. Nigeria is ranked #42 in the world according to FIBA, and their best performance ever in a world tournament was 16th in 2006. Senegal (world ranking #17) also qualified from the African region.
