"The John Mackey Award has named Matt Weiser of Buffalo as the John Mackey Tight End of the Week. The Mid-American Conference senior had the best game by a tight end in school history against Nevada last Saturday. Weiser went off for a career-high 10 catches for 131 yards, including a 41-yard touchdown against the Wolf Pack. It was the most receptions and receiving yards by a tight end in school history. Chad Upshaw held the previous mark of eight receptions for 116 yards against Ohio in 2005. This also marks the second consecutive week that a Mid-American Conference player has been named John Mackey Tight End of the Week. Honorable mentions for this week's John Mackey Tight End of the Week include C.J. Conrad of Kentucky and Billy Freeman of SJSU."
