Buffalo - Ohio State Injury Notes

I'm Missing *THIS MANY* half backs!
I'm Missing *THIS MANY* half backs!
Kevin C. Cox

The Buffalo Bulls Enter this weeks contest in pretty good shape. Two starters are dinged up and both are probable for the Ohio State Game.

If the Bulls are to give Ohio State any kind of a game Guy and Lee need to be near 100%

Player Position Update Notes Status Reason
Fred Lee WR 8/25/2013 is probable for Saturday's game against Ohio State Probable ankle
If there is one position the Bulls need to step up this season it is the wideouts. Less Ankle Injury manes one of their starters may not be 100% but he will be on the field.
Dillon Guy G 8/25/2013 is probable for Saturday's game against Ohio State Probable foot
Dillon Guy is Buffalo starting right guard. Behind him is freshman Dan Collura who did give Guy a good run in camp.
Jordan Johnson RB 8/17/2013 is expected to miss the entire season Out elbow surgery

Johnson is gone for the year meaning UB is looking for another backup fullback and potential utility H-Back.

Buffalo Bulls Lose Jordan Johnson for the season - Bull Run
It's an early loss for the Bulls and one which brings up memories of 2010 when Buffalo lost no less than five backs at one point or another due to injury. Johnson was not going to be a core component of UB's offense but his athletic ability could have added quite a wrinkles into the game day prep of opposing defenses.

Cordero Dixon WR 8/25/2013 is questionable for Saturday's game against Ohio State Questionable head
Another hit to the receiving corps and head injuries always get treated with kid gloves so it's possible that Alex Neutz's backup will be someone not on the post spring depth chart, perhaps Ron Willoughby?

Ohio State on the other hand is a walking mass of hurt and suspended players. Like Buffalo most of Ohio's woes are not among the starting 22 but there are enough injuries, and in the right places, to think UB may be more competitive than the Vegas lines are saying.

Missing the number one and two back's on your team because of legal issues is a hard pill to swallow especially given that the focus for Ohio State in these early weeks was to use the halfbacks to take the pressure of producing on the ground off of Braxton Miller so that he could focus on his passing game.

Player Position Update Notes Status Reason
Marcus Baugh TE 8/17/2013 will miss 8/31 against Buffalo Suspended one-game suspension

Not a starter but a promising freshman for the Buckeye's, Baugh will miss week one because he got caught with Alcohol and a fake ID.

A week removed from an alcohol related incident which saw promising freshman tight end Marcus Baugh arrested for under age consumption of alcohol as well as carrying a fake ID

Adam Griffin CB 8/17/2013 will miss the entire season Out shoulder
Griffin looked to start against Buffalo and with the multiple DB's out either because of Injuries or because of personal reasons the Buckeye's really could have used him.
Rod Smith RB 8/17/2013 will miss 8/31 against Buffalo Suspended one-game suspension

Smith is one of two prominent Ohio State running backs out because of off the field issues.

Blake Thomas TE 8/17/2013 will miss the entire season Out neck
This is another example of bad things coming in groups for Ohio State. Two tight ends out injured, two running backs out with behavioral issues, and three defensive backs out for a multitude of reasons.
Najee Murray CB 8/23/2013 has decided to transfer Out personal

Another Ohio State Defensive Back is out at Columbus. But don't worry Buffalo fans we will see him on the field next season. It's nice to see the kind of players Kent is stacking up with.

Former Ohio State DB Najee Murray transfers to Kent State - Land-Grant Holy Land
The Buckeye DB who parted ways with the team last week after being suspended indefinitely following a training camp incident has landed with former Ohio State coach Paul Haynes and the Golden Flashes. Best of luck to him moving forward.

Carlos Hyde RB 7/30/2013 will be eligible to return on 9/21 against Florida A&M Suspended three-game suspension

Hyde was "indefinitely" suspended for his own behavioral issues. But Urban Meyer has decided to offer the Running back another chance so long as he can hold it together for a few weeks

Smith's absence comes with the Buckeyes already missing Carlos Hyde, who's suspended indefinitely (though believed to be no more than a 3-game suspension if Hyde meets certain team obligations). -LGHL

Bradley Roby CB 8/17/2013 will miss 8/31 against Buffalo Suspended disciplinary/legal

Roby heard some good legal news when video cleared him of class-a offense and now just faced class b assault charges. Still he will have to sit against Buffalo.

Ohio State CB Bradley Roby, RB Rod Smith suspended for one game - Land-Grant Holy Land
Roby's suspension follows yesterday's news that the class-a misdemeanor battery charges he'd been facing since an altercation at a bar in Bloomington, Indiana in July had been reduced to a lesser class-b misdemeanor. Smith's suspension, news at this point, comes following a disciplinary issue that was said to have occurred last winter.
