Road Warrior - Western Michigan - Where's Waldo?

Traveling to a UB football game? Well We here at Bull Run just spent weeks driving around the MAC footprint to find out where you should pit stop and what you should do. If you are traveling to UB for a Buffalo home game we will cover those as well!

If you buy something from an SB Nation link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

Last time Buffalo got to entertain the Eastern Michigan Eagles. To get to Buffalo EMU fans will have to cut through Canada. This week UB fans wanting to catch the game are going to make their own trek through Ontario.

Tickets

SB Nation is now partnered with Ticket Master so if you're not getting your tickets through UB then you can get them here on Bull Run via the Tickets Link.

The Route

Time - Six Hours

Distance - 400 Miles

Tolls - $13.50 Total - (Port Huron ($6.00), Peace ($6.50), and Grand Island Bridges($1.00))

The trek across southern Ontario is going to go a lot like the eastern Michigan Trip. Going through Canada saves you at least an hour of driving. You're going to enter Canada at either the Peace Bridge or Niagara Falls and head for the 405.

Canada is a pleasant drive but some notes for people who don't cross over that much there are two things you need to know.

  1. Those signs in the Kilometers per hour. I've known more than one person who thinks those are invitations to "open it up".
  2. You now need a passport or enhanced license to get across into Canada. It's not like when we were kids and the "Where were you born" question is the be all end all of getting across.

Pit Stop

Six hours is a long time in the car so when you get to Sarnia Ontario, just before crossing into Michigan you may want to check out Blackwater Coffee & Tea Company. It's a nice small coffee company where you can refuel for the second half of the drive.

So you get to Kalamazoo where to stay?

Kalamazoo's bargain basement motel is the Knights Inn. If you want a more upscale stay there is the The Henderson Castle Bed & Breakfast.

While You're in Kalamazoo What else should you do

If you have a day to stay in Kalamazoo it would be borderline criminal not to visit the "Air Zoo". The Air Zoo, founded as the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum, is an aviation museum and indoor amusement park next to the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport in Portage, Michigan.
