Is Eli Carter a possible future Bull?

Rutgers Guard Eli Carter is

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

A random tweet by Alex Kline, a recruit scoop guy out of New Jersey, indicated that UB might be a possible destination for Rutgers Guard Eli Carter.

Carter is leaving Rutgers in the wake of the Mike Rice situation. The release of tapes showing the former Rutgers Coach verbally and physically attacking his players ended his tenure. Since then three Rutgers players have decided to leave the team and two top recruits have decommited.

Carter, a 6-foot-2 guard, averaged 14.9 points and 2.1 assists in an injury shortened season. He broke his tibia while playing DePaul in mid-February, at the time he was the team's leading scorer. Buffalo, after the departure of Andre McPhail, has a scholarship to give.

Carter is only a sophomore, and has not used a redshirt so this is a player with two years left to play ball. While he could use his redshirt next season his circumstances may be such that the NCAA would grant him a waiver on sitting next season.

This would be quite a coup for Bobby Hurley, there will be a lot of schools vying for his services. Locally one interest could be Saint Bonaventure who had a commitment from him before he decided to go to Rutgers. His relationship with the UB Coaching staff could lead him to give the Bulls a long look.
