Buffalo's turnover fest lifts Manhattan to victory

If Basketball was only about shooting Buffalo would have crushed Manhattan during the last ever bracket buster. Unfortunately things like ball control factor into hoops success and UB's 24 turnovers was enough to lift Manhattan to a one point victory over the Bulls.

Tony Watson II tried to single handily lift UB over the Jaspers and he came tatalizing close to doing just that. His 24 points came off of a seven for ten shooting performance that helped UB climb to within one point during the last minute of the game. He got some help from Javon McCrea who nothced yet another double double but McCrea, and everyone else spent the evening committing silly turnovers.

UB had such a hot hand early that despite the turnover problems they managed to build a 34-24 lead and seemed to be well on their way to a victory over the Jaspers.

Then the turnovers got worse, and more unforced. Travels and passes out of bounds helped the Jaspers finish the first half on a 9-2 run, and then start the second half on a 14-4 run.

The Jaspers, led by Michael Alvarado and RaShawn Stores spent ten minutes chipping away at the UB lead and then building one of their own. Two and a half minutes into the second half Manhattan took a lead that would last them the entire game.

With five minutes remaining the Jasper's lead had swollen to nine and UB started a furious charge to get back into the game. With less than a minute Left Watson hit his seventh three pointer of the night to get the Bulls back to within one. With eleven second left Javon McCrea would snag a rebound that gave the Bulls a chance to put together a winning shot, that shot never really came and a limb outside shot was the best UB could manage.

UB saw their three game winning streak ended and lost their second straight "bracket busters" game. They are back in action this Wednesday on the road at Kent.

Three Point Shot: It's about more than shooting the Ball

When you out shoot your opponent by 20% from the field there is literally no excuse, no dog eating homework, sun in your eyes, It's only mu first day excuse to lose.
