Buffalo Bowling Green Clash at the Ralph

UB Athletics is revving up the hype machine for next Friday's Clash at the Ralph

At the beginning of the season, Bull_trojan looked at the schedule and predicted that next Friday's game between Buffalo and Bowling Green would be meaningful in the MAC Standings. A few months later, the man we Bruwpeggers call "The Don" is sitting pretty, as the game will determine the MAC East champion and earn the winner a trip to wonderful Detroit.

Now that we're here, UB Athletics is getting the word out, pushing the hashtag #BeatBG (Seriously, tweet nothing but #BeatBG, and they'll retweet you) and using the twitter account @ClashattheRalph, which seems to be the product of a Communications class, to up the ante on social media:

<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=/^http:/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+"://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");</script>

As for ticket sales so far, The Buffalo News tracked down Todd Garzarelli:

Todd Garzarelli, UB’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs, said 24,000 tickets have been sold for the game and another 6,000 are out through a promotion run in conjunction with the Turkey Trot.

In addition to the Buffalo YMCA Turkey Trot, Athletics is partnering with the Roswell Park Foundation and the Buffalo Zoo to sell tickets, and has also distributed a block to Niagara Falls AFB.

The all time home attendance record for UB is just shy of 30,000 in a game against Syracuse that featured a sea of Orange in UB Stadium. It sounds like with that many sold already and some good weather, UB could see its most favorable crowd since the International Bowl, even if only 2/3 of the distributed tickets are actually used.
