I'm actually not to big on the show punked. The produciton value stinks and the 'ideas' for punking make scare tactics look well thought out. That being said Punking is a great theme given everything that came out yesterday.

Manti Te'o did lose his grandmother this past fall. Annette Santiago died on Sept. 11, 2012, at the age of 72, according to Social Security Administration records in Nexis. But there is no SSA record there of the death of Lennay Marie Kekua, that day or any other. Her passing, recounted so many times in the national media, produces no obituary or funeral announcement in Nexis, and no mention in the Stanford student newspaper.

This is the one that everyone is talking about. Deadspin has made every sports network out there look foolish. Hell deadspin made looks like the gold standard in journalism after breaking this story. While the media was busy sneering at their crude language and casual presentation they went about their business and broke the sports story of the year, in mid January!

Manti Te'o is a damn fine linebacker and a Heisman candidate who got a lot of press when his grandmother and girlfriend died the same day, right around the Notre Dame Michigan game. Te'o played through the pain of loss and was the star.

Turns out while T'eo did lose his grandmother the girlfriend never even existed, let alone died. For his part T'eo said he was lied to by some pranksters. The only thing I know is that I don't know..

So the Big East / West division is gone. Word is they have yet to secure a deal on their TV rights which expire this year.

Buffalo Hoops fans are getting punked

Coach Reggie Witherspoon, the longest tenured MAC coach, has had something of a star-crossed existence helming Buffalo, and it’s starting to show. With Mitchell Watt gone, the roster is littered with unimpressive upperclassmen. And other than Will Regan, the underclassmen haven’t shown much. Bulls fans will point to the loss of Jarod Oldham, but he was shooting 39.4% from the floor. Other than Javon McCrea, there’s no one to turn to on offense.

With McCrea and Regan I was sure the Bulls would be better than their 5-11, 0-3 start.
