1982 - Pat Whitehead sets single season All-Purpose yards record. Stands for 20 years.
Pat Whitehead started the 1982 season with 3 rushing touchdowns in a 34-7 victory over Cortland. In 1982, Whitehead was named an ECAC all-star after becoming UB's All-Purpose yards leaders and put in one of the most versatile seasons in UB history. Whitehead contributed 32% of the teams points with 92. Whitehead scored 12 times running, 3 coming against Cortland, and 4 coming against Albany. He added 3 receiving touchdowns and 1 converted two point conversion.
Whitehead finished with 1,544 all purpose yards, a UB record that would stand for 20 years before Andre Forde exceded the amount. The record is currently held by Branden Oliver's 2011 effort. How he amassed those yards is impressive as well. Whitehead led the Bulls in both rushing: 615 yards, and receiving: 55 receptions for 608 yards.
