UB has received a post-season bid to the 16 team WBI Tournament!!! We are honored and excited. -- UB Coach Linda Hill-MacDonald via Twitter
The WBI is a 16-team, single-elimination tournament that takes place on campus sites with higher-seeded team hosting games. The bracket is split into East and West regions, each seeded 1-8. Last year, in the inaugural tournament, East No. 1 Appalachian State defeated West No. 1 Memphis for the WBI championship. Other participants included Southland rival Texas A&M-Corpus Christi along with the likes of Washington, Louisville, Wichita State, Akron, UMKC, Morehead State and Bradley.
Other teams already confirmed for this year's event are Elon, Chicago State, Central Arkansas, and South Dakota,
The pairings for the tournament will be announced Monday evening. The first round is scheduled for March 16-17, with second round games to follow on the 19th and 20th. The semifinals are the 23rd and 24th with the championship to be played on either Saturday the 26th or Sunday the 27th.
Coach Hill-MacDonald has presided over a steadily improving program, much of which is owed to MAC MVP Kourtney Brown.
