Baseball : Buffalo Bulls 5 Tennessee Martin 3 - UB Picks up their first win of 2016

A well distributed offensive effort, efficient pitching from the starter, and a clutch relief performance came together today in Martin Tennessee, leading the Bulls to their first victory of 2016.

UB started the scoring in the 4th inning.

With one out Chris Kwitzer and Ben Vey drew back to back walks. They patient forced 16 pitches, both fending off full counts. That was followed by back to back singles from Mike Abrunzo and Connor Regan. That was followed up two batters later by a single from freshman Brian Wasilewski. Giving UB the 3-0 lead.

In the 4th JUCO tranfser Alex Thrower led off with a single and became what would be the winning run two batters later on a sacrifice hit by Kwitzer.

The Skyhawks would make it interesting. Scoring two in the bottom of the 5th and one in the 6th to come to within a run.

In the seventh Brian Dudek would score on a throwing error, pushing UB's lead back to two runs.

In the bottom of the 7th UTM led off with two straight hits prompting UB to put Mike Kaelin in to stop the bleeding. Kaelin struck out two and then surrendered a single which loaded the bases. Kaelin struck the next batter out looking to escape the inning.

The Junior from Cheektowaga was lock down for the rest of the game, earning the save.

Player of the game: Mike Kaelin - For coming in and bailing out UB in the seventh with three strikeouts and then gave up only a single hit in the eighth and the ninth inning.
