Lance Leipold reportedly hired away by Kansas

It looks like we just went from a world where the incompetence of the Kansas Jayhawks bit Buffalo football fans on the rear, again.

The Jayhawks who are absolute legend at painting themselves into a coaching corner are going to try to get out of it this time by going after one of the best mid major coaches in the nation, rather than a P5 coordinator.

And there is no doubt Leipold is one of the best out there. After going 109-6 at Wisconsin Whitewater he made the jump form D3 to D1 and became the first UB head coach to have a winning career record at Buffalo since Dick Offenhamer back in the late 50’s and early 60’s.

I kind hope it works out for Lance, I also kind of want Lawrence to smell like hot garbage for decades to come as punishment for poaching a program building Buffalo coach.... again!

Due to the raging incompetence of Kansas this hire happens after spring ball with less than half a year until the 2021 season kicks off. Mark Alnutt has been put in a really difficult spot, easily worse then when Nate Oats left for Alabama.

So how does Alnutt handle this? If I had my druthers I’d lock down the rest of the football staff by offering Borland the HC job and working with the rest to stay on. If Lance starts picking off his assistant and Buffalo has to replace the whole kit and caboodle it will mean two things.

  • A crazy summer for UB Athletics
  • More content on Bull Run

So you know, bad news good news.
