Back when UB had a surging Men’s soccer program the star was Russell Cicerone. In his UB career which spanned the 2013 to 2016 seasons he scored 42 goals in 71 appearances, also tallying 22 assists.
He was the 2015 MAC Player of the Year. In the UB record books which are sadly collecting dust he holds the record for assists, and is second best in goals and points (106).
Of his 42 goals the one that got the most national attention was a midfield shot in the second overtime to secure a win over Bryant. It was his second goal of the game.
After his UB career ended he was drafted by the Portland Timber in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
He’s currently playing for Saint Louis FC.
