Buffalo Offense Explodes behind Patterson

In a clash of the two best offenses in the conference, one stood taller than the other.

Buffalo racked up 70 behind the legs of Jaret Patterson who’s 409 and 8 game set conference records. The UB Junior could have broken the NCAA records as well but was pulled by the coaching staff with 1:30 left in the game.

Side Note: How much would it have sucked if he got hurt in garbage time trying to break a record. Besides.... There is always Akron

Buffalo led whistle to whistle but until the defense came alive in the third quarter the shootout was close enough to keep Kent fans hopeful and Buffalo fans nervous. But it was in the third quarter when UB got the separation they needed to overwhelm Kent State.

It was midway through the second when Kent got the ball, down 11, and had a drive stopped on a three and out, forcing only their second punt of the game. Buffalo took the ball, and marched 84 yards down the field, never to look back.

* Kents defense was helpless all day long. They had no answer for Patterson, no answer for Kevin Marks, and even though Kyle Vantrease was off he still had a serviceable day.

* Buffalo’s defense had a lot of struggles in the game but came up big in the first and third quarters, and that was enough.

With the Win Buffalo is the lone undefeated team in the MAC East division with two games remaining. If the Bulls win one of those games (@Ohio and vs Akron) then they will win the East division and play in the conference championship for the second time in three years.
