For UB to contend for a bowl game, let alone the division, they needed to split the Miami and Ohio games. Despite starting hot they fell apart at Miami and gave away what could have been a key win.
Now Ohio comes to town, and during this decade where the game is being played has always been more important than how the teams have been playing.
No road team has won this game since 2009, when Ohio squeaked by Turner Gills Bulls late in the year.
Great Ohio teams have gotten crushed by meek UB teams and Buffalo’s better teams have fared no better in Athens.
Ohio is 1-3. Their out of conference schedule is not as strong as Miami’s, but it’s a quality slate and they have some close losses. A single bounce in teh Marshall or Pitt games and they could easily be 3-1.
