Buffalo’s CJ “Buckets” Massinburg will have a shot to fine tune his game in the NBA G-League as a member of the Long Island Nets

Massinburg led Buffalo during the programs most successful era. He was named the MAC Player of the Year in 2019, 2× First-team All-MAC (2018, 2019), and a conference All-Freshman Team Member in 2016.

There was interest in Massinburg leading up to the draft, but nothing came through. Within a day of the draft CJ was picked up by the Brooklyn Nets for their summer league team.In the middle of last month the Nets signed him but was was waived a few days later.

Now he’s going to get his shot in the G league which is the official minor league basketball organization of the NBA. The league was known as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001 to 2005, and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) from 2005 until 2017.

The league started as a few teams tied to multiple NBA franchises but has grown to the points where where are 27 teams, all of which are either single-affiliated or owned by an NBA team.

CJ’s first game will be November 9th, on the road, against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
