EMU:
Don’t look now but over the last two seasons EMU is 6-6, they went to a Bowl game and despite the loss they played a good game.
The program has the same structural challenges as always, playing in the shadow of Ann Arbor and being in the west, generally the deeper football division.
But despite those challenges Chris Creigton has turned the Eagles from a joke into a mid level MAC football team. The challenge will be maintaining that level for a few seasons.
History:
Even when EMU was playing terribly over the past 20 years they managed to take care of Buffalo more often than now.
Aside from Jeff Quinn ending the tenure of Ron Engilsh in 2013, UB is 0-6 all time against EMU. The Eagles have owned “The Ontario Sandwich” trophy.
This Years Team:
EMU was 5-7 last year and lost a mess of close games on small mistakes. It was probably the best team they have put on the field in 20 years and this year should be even better.
EMU returns basically every running back and offensive lineman. If they can get someone to step in and replace Roback their offense should be even better.
On the defensive side they have returned most of their defensive backfield. This and some returning talent on the line will help EMU be able to rush the passer.
