Bulls look to stay perfect on the year, host SIU

NCAA Basketball: Dartmouth at Buffalo Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

The Bulls are looking to stay unbeaten and ranked tomorrow when they host the back end of a single season home and home series with SIU. The Bulls pulled out a 62-53 win at SIU Arena on November 12.

In the UB victory of SIU, one of the closets game of the season for Buffalo, SIU harassed UB shooters for the first half, keeping the Bulls normally prodigious shooter to just 3-15 from three in the first half.

At the fist intermission UB led by only four points. On the night UB got better but SIY’s defense held UB to their lowest point output against in three seasons.

SIU has been very good about playing unselfish basketball this season. The Salukis have had 61.0 percent of its field goals come with assists, which ranks 21st nationally. But the Bulls did a great job last time of breaking that up, keeping SIU well below their season average.

The Bulls, in that game, were very balanced. No UB player scored more than 11 but a clutch of the team managed more than seven points.

With Syracuse and Marquette coming up it might be tempting for fans to overlook how good SIU is. They were getting poll votes the last time the two teams met, this is a very solid squad who will do well in MVC play.

On top of that, having played UB a month ago, they have more than enough film and experience to try to once again disrupt and stifle the Bulls transition offense.

Tipoff is Tomorrow at 2pm.
