Guess who’s coming to town! The Buffalo Bulls and Liberty Flames have have scheduled a football a home-and-home series. UB is going to be hosting Liberty next season (2019) and the Bulls will make a return trip to in 2023.
Liberty is of course coached by Turner Gill, who was the first UB coach of the modern era to achieve a winning season at Buffalo and still the only coach to lead UB to a football championship.
After 2009 Gill left for Kansas where he only lasted two seasons, because Kansas burns through coaches faster than I go through beer at a back yard camp fire.
So he landed quickly in the FCS, at Liberty. Liberty is now scheduled to join the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) in 2019. The Flames are slated to play as an independent, it’s an odd move becuse usually teams have needed an invite from an FBS conference.
Since 2012 Gill has been 35-25 at liberty and he has led the Flames to a share of the Big South championship in four of his five seasons.
