Buffalo Bulls miss the sweep opportunity, fall 2-3 at Toledo

Shawn Dubin threw eight innings, giving up only two hits, but errors and key mistakes allowed the Rocket to salveage a game in their series with the Bulls.

As they have in the two previous games of this series UB found themselves down 1-0 before they got on the board.

A throwing error by Toledo's pitcher allowed Andrew Taft to reach and subsequently take second base to lead off the fifth inning. After Alex Thrower walked Bobby Sheppard hit a double which scored Thrower and Taft.

But the 2-1 lead would not hold long. Toledo hit a homer run in the home half of the fifth and added another run in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead.

In the seventh the Bulls came close to knotting the game up when Taft driller a drive into right field with runners on the corners. Unfortunately for Buffalo the Toledo outfielder made a diving catch to end the UB threat.

UB's bats, which had been very productive in Toledo where kept in check by Ross Achter and Caleb Schillace.

The Bulls took the series but missed a cance at the sweep despite a very good effort from Shawn Dubin. They will play a doubleheader at Saint Bonaventure on tuseday before their first home games of the year against EMU next weekend.
